Eric S. Daar, MD, is Chief, Division of HIV Medicine, Harbor-University of California at Los Angeles Medical
Center, and Professor of Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA. Dr. Daar received his undergraduate
degree from UCLA and medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed an internship
and residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and his clinical and research fellowship
in infectious diseases at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and UCLA. Dr. Daar is a member of the faculty at
Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he is Chief of the Division of HIV Medicine. He is also Professor of
Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
Dr. Daar is a member of numerous scientific societies, the recipient of many grants, and author of numerous original scientific articles published in prestigious medical journals. He has been a reviewer for many scientific and clinical journals and is a member of the Editorial Board of Current HIV/AIDS Reports, AIDS, and the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Infectious Diseases. His clinical and research interests relate to the management of HIV-1 infection and its complications as well as the immunopathogenesis of primary and chronic HIV-1 infection. In addition, he has lectured throughout the world on HIV and AIDS and is the recipient of numerous awards including the the UCLA School of Medicine Award for Excellence in Education, the Pat Griffin Hero of the Year Award from LA Shanti, the Founders Award from The Heart Touch Project, and the Spirit of Hope Award from Being Alive Los Angeles. He has been recognized by SLD Industries and Castle Connolly as one of America’s Top Doctors/Physicians, respectively, and was one of ten in the United States given the Outstanding HIV Physician Leadership Award by The Body.Com.
